What are "Best Practices" ? A casual observer may interpret the term "Best Practices" and consider that such a concept is subjectively slanted with many personal points of view. Within the context of the JPT White Paper and Case Study offerings are experiences drawn from successes as well as failures since our founding in 1971. Also, since that time, the skilled trade application of machine tools, its associated tooling, process sequencing and fixturing has advanced. The introduction of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery alone has had a dramatic effect on every manufacturing industry. The first decade of the 21st century "snapshot" of the production environment looks quite different today than it did in 1971. Best Practices must be current. How projects completed years ago may not be relevant in today’s ultra competitive worldwide environment. The Best Practices as defined by the “JPT Way” take into account all elements that directly impact you, Our Customer. The over-riding foundation that drives JPT’s Best Practices are to create within the Lean Environment these considerations;
You may notice we did not include Initial Tooling Costs or Machining Cycle Times in the above listing. Both of course are significant considerations and must be integrated into your over all project. We can give you many examples of how focusing exclusively on these two elements alone often leads to these undesirable consequences;
Of course, " Best Practices " never compromises on quality. "The JPT Way" includes the analysis of your process, the process sequence, the most cost effective way of machining your specific project and the flexible options we so often observe you will need. We recommend your process, your cutting tools, your Machine Tool requirements, associated fixturing and many other ancillary requirements. When you ask JPT to "quote your project", our immediate attitude is to review the total scope of your project from a "Best Practices" standpoint.......and that is....... "The JPT Way". |
